Should you include your children in your ceremony?

Including your child or children in your ceremony is always a good idea in my opinion!
Here's why...
Whether you realise it or not, your wedding isn't just about the two of you. It's a huge event in your child's life and they deserve to play a part in that, especially if you're becoming a blended family.
What that looks like is completely up to you, and of course, how old they are! No one is expecting a two year old to do a reading - obviously! But maybe they could do more than just walk down the aisle as a flower girl?
There are a number of ceremonies you could consider, such as a sand ceremony or hand fasting, however there are also simpler ways to include them. They could write their own poem or "blessing" that they could read or someone could read it for them. They could give you the rings and maybe you could exchange those with a small keepsake for them to treasure. You could ask your celebrant to get your children to join youjust as the ceremony comes to a close, so the guests give their final round of applause to your family unit and walk back down the aisle together hand in hand (I love this one!)
However you include them it will be a truly unforgettable moment for everyone and you won't regret it!
I hope that's given you some thought. Having a celebrant wedding ceremony allows you to include all these ideas and more so you have the most unique ceremony designed around you and your family. Get in touch with me today to chat about your tailor-made ceremony: laurafelicianocelebrant@gmail.com
